The esteemed Patient Preferred Network has meritoriously named Dr. Gentian Toshkezi, MD -  
a Patient Preferred Physician of the Year representing Neurosurgery in the state of Maryland for 2024. 

With over 24 years in his field, Dr. Toshkezi specializes in brain and spinal tumor treatment, neurosurgical spine surgery, and neurotrauma. He is committed to providing excellent patient care and serves as the Medical Director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Meritus Health in Maryland.

    Dr. Toshkezi is a skilled neurosurgeon who takes immense pride in offering advanced neurosurgical solutions to the local community. He is highly dedicated to his field and proficient in treating a wide range of neurosurgical conditions, such as brain tumors, spinal disorders, and traumatic injuries. As a highly trained neurosurgeon, Dr. Toshkezi assists patients suffering from degenerative spine disease, spine trauma, brain tumors, traumatic brain injury, peripheral nerve disease, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformations, and chronic pain. 

Dr. Toshkezi’s career in medicine began as a graduate of the University of Medicine, Tirana in Albania, in 2000. He then relocated to the United States to further his training and performed his residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in New York and his fellowship at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts. To keep abreast of the latest developments in his field, Dr. Toshkezi keeps professional memberships with the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, the French Language Neurosurgery Society, and AO Spine. Fluent in English, French, Italian, and Albanian, Dr. Toshkezi can communicate with patients of various backgrounds. He has lived in different countries and when he’s not treating patients, he loves to travel.
